Hope you don't mind a written appearance, I can never find a decent picture that I like! Anyway, here's James.
Appearance: Standing at six feet and five inches, James towers over most humans, his closest friends often commenting that he is probably more intimidating in a fight than his beloved Jezebel. If he’s pissed off, that might be true, but his trim frame makes it clear that in truth, James is a bit of a gentle giant. His dark brown hair is kept as long as he can get away with, and always seems to be a charming just-woken-up mess, no matter what time of day and he sports a neatly trimmed beard. James inherited his mother’s green eyes and pale complexion and his father’s bone structure, making for a pleasingly handsome face. He’s no heart melting model, but he gets by. Name: James Hawthorne, callsign; Broadside. Age: Thirty-three. Gender: Male. Race/Species: Human. Homeworld: Providence, Chi Ceti System. Chi Ceti was first colonised some thirty years after initial landfall on Mayflower, being the next star system ‘over’ as it were. Providence has flourished, growing from its capital city; New Londoninium, a continent spanning super-city and the planet is now the most populated in the system and a major military stronghold in the surrounding sector. Personality: They that it takes nerves to steel to pilot a bomber, as nothing is more daunting than flying at an enemy stronghold or capital ship knowing that because you’re slower than the dropships and bigger than the fighters, you’re essentially flying a massive bullseye, packed full of explosives. James Hawthorne would agree, because who doesn’t like being told they’re a badass? He knows, however, that his fellow pilots deserve just as much praise, and he maintains the upmost respect for his brothers and sisters in arms. That’s not to say he does not view the other branches of the military with praise and respect, it’s just that fellow pilots will always be top his list and the drinks are most definitely on him for those with their wings. Biography/History: Coming from a family with strong military ties, his mother, father and grandfather all having served, James always knew that he himself would follow their footsteps and enter service at some point. It was the skies that interested him most, finding no draw to the ground operations that his father’s side of the family had seen fit to partake in and preferring the aviation that his mother had fondly spoken of in tales she had told the young James, having been a fighter pilot herself. James poured himself into his studies, focusing on anything related to flight or flying and when he was able to, he enrolled at the IAIF Aeronautical Division on Providence and for three years worked on the development of new flight technologies. At the age of twenty-one, James found he craved more action and applied for the Pilot Corps, was accepted and by his twenty-third birthday was a full-fledged fighter pilot, just like his mother. Initially, during his first few tours of duty, James flew fighters with the 86th Hammerheads, attached to the IAIF’s peacekeeping fleet, where he earned the callsign Broadside for a particularly effective, but ridiculously stupid manoeuvre that almost cost him his life and retired his first Seagull from flying. On his third tour of the colonies, flying from Providence’s orbital defense grid, James began his stint as a B252 Demon Bomber pilot, participating in multiple clashes between the IAIF and Insurrectionist forces (after all, not everyone loves their appointed leaders) and has done so for the last few years. His first love will always be fighter craft, but he appreciates the value that his bombers can bring to a fight. Are you a ground-pounder or do you ride with the navy as part of the crew?: Up there where the air is clear. Other: The name of his ill fated Seagull that is rusting somewhere on Chiron Gamma V? You guessed it; Summer’s Dawn. Rank: Major. Position: B252 Pilot. Weapon: Standard issue IAIF pilot’s sidearm and combat knife. Equipment: Standard IAIF issue survival kit and flight suit/helmet, his helmet contains a detachable holographic overlay system that doubles as a combat support system for bombing run trajectories and other strategic information as well as a comms and navigation headset if on the ground, incase he ends up shot down or downed due to mechanical issues. His Demon contains a basic tool kit and spares kit. If pilot, what craft?: B252 Demon Bomber, nicknamed Jezebel.
