The woman was stunned, taking in his unemotional tone as he relayed what would have become of her had he not stopped them. [i] They would have…eaten me…[/i]At the realization her mind seized up, becoming lost in a continuous replay of the creature’s attack. She was so distracted by these thoughts that she did not realize he had begun to walk away, and then suddenly aware of his disappearing presence she dashed after him. 

Evelin came to walk beside him, matching her pace with his long stride. She glanced over at the taller individual, her lips parting for a second as she was about to ask him where they were going but he looked lost in his own thoughts. Her lips snapped shut, her question unvoiced and left for a later time, and without a word she turned to look ahead of her. 

Left to her thoughts the previous events once again began their grisly replay. She could almost imagine the searing pain that would have come from those sharpened claws. Surely, inspired by these wonderings at what would have occurred, the replays turned into nightmarish scenes where those same claws ripped at her skin. 

Evelin quickly shook those visions off, letting out a sigh as she tried to expel the thoughts from her mind. The young woman had a feeling that if she did not find something to keep her occupied she would only return to those dreadful visions. Her eyes suddenly glanced over at Samuel, finding him still in his thoughts, so she took this opportunity to really look at him. 

Compared to the people Evelin had known Samuel was a strange yet alluring sight, especially his copper curls and deep ember eyes. A blush suddenly flourished over her cheeks, being hidden behind the scarf wrapped around her to ward out the cold, her eyes darting away in embarrassment at her actions. 

[I] I shouldn’t be staring at him!![/i] she mentally scolded. Her eyes once again were fixed ahead, trying not to look his way again for fear of getting lost in his strange appearance once again. 

“Where are we going?” she asked, not even giving him a side glance as she voiced her earlier question.
