Well being a servant is different than being an apprentice, technically... 
And even then Death would be accused of indirectly interfering with the realm of the living. But honestly it isn't that big of a deal. I can live with it. 
You can have the ability to summon spirits, but keep in mind summoning a spirit is different than necromancy. It takes a lot less to bring forth a simple spirit than resurrecting a being or something like that. Keep in mind a spirit on average will not take on a physical form and won't be able to touch anything. You can remedy this by adding even more power to the ability, but that would mean summoning less. Is this acceptable? 
And rethinking the weakness, it is acceptable.
