Zac darted to the front of the local Pizzeria, Nova Roma, which was Kelly’s favorite place to get a pizza from. Before he had met Kelly, Zac probably would never had thought about getting a Hawaiian pizza; however, ever since they had been dating, the taste of it had grown on him. Zac handed over several dollar bills over to the cashier and took the pizza box into his hands. Today was a day for celebrating. Not only had he and Kelly elevated their relationship to the next level, but he finally heard the good news that the NCAA would not be handing out any suspensions against Zac or the university. Out of the blue, an interest group, called the Kronides, started lobbying against any suspensions, attempting to show evidence that proves that Zac, nor the university as a whole, had not broken any rules. Somehow it worked. Zac did not know how or why this happened, but he was just glad that it did. It was like someone had lifted a great burden from Zac’s shoulders, just like when Herakles relieved Atlas from his duties of holding the sky upon his shoulders. It only took Zac a few minutes to drive the short distance from the pizzeria to his and Kelly’s apartment. Once there, he found the premises deserted. He wondered where Kelly could been? Maybe the library? She’s always trying to get a leg up on her studies, so it wouldn’t surprise him if that where she was at the moment. Therefore, Zac decided to start digging into the pizza with her and watch some television until she got back. However, when he flipped on the television, his jaw dropped. On the screen ran footage of a foiled bank robbery. However, what was weird about it was that he saw himself, or what looked like himself, in costume, partaking in stopping the crime. But that was impossible. He was at the athletic department for the whole day, hearing the good news. Nevertheless, this was not the worst thing he saw. And once he saw what came next, he knew why Kelly wasn’t there at the apartment when he came home. She must have thought the doppelganger that appeared on the news was actually him. What was Zac going to do? She had been acting so strangely as of late. And considering what they did last night, Zac could not even begin to guess what rash action Kelly was about ready to do. Then Zac heard the door unlock. He knew that his day of reckoning could very well be upon him. “Oh, there is my dearest boyfriend. Did you miss me?” Kelly said sarcastically. As she walked over toward Zac, she pulled off her power-nullifying wristband and tossed it on the table, right next to the pizza. Kelly lifted up a slice of pizza from the cardboard box. With every bite, she savored the taste of the Hawaiian pizza, her favorite. At least it could not betray her. “Kelly, please, just let me explain myself.” However, before Zac could even start telling his girlfriend that he was innocent, Kelly reached out her arm and lifted up Zac by his neck, even as he continued to consume her slice of pizza. “You don’t deserve to explain yourself, Zac.” She said with the calmest tone as anyone could utter in such a situation. “You used me and once I was no longer desirable to you, you just tossed me aside like trash and went onto the next new thing. Do you think Victoria is prettier than me? Do you like her more?” However, Zac could not respond, as Kelly’s grip around his neck made it difficult for him to breath, let alone talk. When Kelly’s questions were only answered with silence, she tossed her boyfriend against their living room couch. “We already know what happens to you when you are stung by wasps. Why don’t we find out what happens when the wasp that sings you is six feet tall?” Zac turned on the couch to face his girlfriend, still aching from the pain that was caused by Kelly throwing him against the couch. His eyes grew wide as he saw the barb extrude from Kelly’s wasp abdomen. All that was missing from this scene was poison dripping from the barb itself. Nevertheless, even without any visible venom, fear still took hold of Zac’s heart. “Kelly,” Zac began to say, “Let’s not do anything rash. We don’t want to regret anything.” “I would listen to your boyfriend, if I were you.” A third voice said. Both Zac and Kelly recognized the voice: Victoria. “Speak of the Devil.” Kelly said, as she turned to gaze toward the newcomer.
