Cinna and Effie had been the only people she could tolerate from the Capitol, perhaps Caesar Flickerman being a slight exception. It was interesting, rather surprising for Katniss to find someone who didn't have their head crammed up their ass. The compliments felt more sincere and that made Katniss relax a little while trying to put those unsettling words from Jenella behind her. "Thank you..." Katniss said when Bea gave her condolences regarding what Snow was putting her through. The woman didn't seem too worried or under some illusion which was also what allowed the archer to actually laugh a little when Haymitch added some praise of his own. He was biased though but she knew he still thought highly of her skills, even before their feelings blossomed. As much as Katniss wanted to make a flirtatious comment, she had to remember she couldn't, as they weren't alone any longer. "I can't afford to break my streak." She said lightly. Katniss wasn't really sure what to say though and she glanced to Haymitch. Bea was easy to talk to but the girl just wasn't sure to say as she was trying to get back into a better mindset. One that would make her more approachable, as Haymitch would stress. "I'm glad there's someone like you on our side." Katniss told the woman. It gave her some hope that she might actually get gifts from sponsors like Bea. She had faith in Peeta's ability to get plenty of support but she knew it also weighed on her and the others' shoulders to not only seem promising but also appealing. They spoke with Bea for another minute before she excused herself, leaving Haymitch and Katniss alone. Before Katniss could compliment Haymitch on making that interaction more bearable than she assumed but someone else had quickly replaced the spot that Bea had left open. "Good evening, Katniss. Haymitch." He smiled to them. He had brown hair which reminded Katniss of the leaves back home when autumn would change into winter. He had dim green eyes which took her back to the spring where the white and brown scenery would turn into a bright green before summer would take over. By now, her home must be breaking out in wonderful colors of life and hope and she was stuck in Hell. "I've been hoping to speak to you but this is the first time I've seen you available." He said. "So...you've been watching me?" Katniss laughed a little, though it wasn't because she felt flattered, she was more amused than intrigued or interested. "How could I not?" He grinned and held out his hand. "My name is Blaze." She shook his hand and he kissed the top of it. Katniss forced herself to smile and pulled her hand back before she put it behind her and wiped it off. Ew gross. :He glanced to Haymitch and flashed him a wide smile too but then looked back to Katniss. "I was hoping I could get a dance with The Girl on Fire, I think we could heat things up a bit in here." He said. Katniss wanted to roll her eyes, he was pretty terrible. "Or if you'd rather, we could go get a drink, get away from the crowd..." He offered and moved to touch her hair but she quickly smacked his head before he could touch her long wavy strand of hair. She was sure she expected to say yes but she was too grossed out to really want to have anything to with Blaze. "Um...." She glanced to Haymitch. Blaze then mentioned that he'd love to save her from all the danger that awaited her in the upcoming Hunger Games and that the two of them could have some fun together. He even began to mention her skill with the bow and how useful it might be in a non-violent situation. She had heard enough from the moron and stepped forward and reached up, resting her hand around his neck as she softened her expression. "That's very sweet of you, Blaze." She said sweetly and reached down and pressed her fingers into the muscles around his collar bone and used her other hand to reach around his neck, putting a good amount of pressure on those two points which quickly brought him to his knees. "Actually no, I meant to say disgusting, I'm guessing someone of your personality type doesn't have many friends. Consider yourself very lucky we aren't alone or I'd gauge your eyes out and shove them up your ass now get up and get the fuck out of here before I shove my heel down your throat." She hissed. Blaze got up and quickly headed off. Thankfully no one had noticed their encounter and Katniss had managed to hold down any urge to vomit. "Can we go now?" She turned to Haymitch, thoroughly disgusted and annoyed. At least the words from Jenella weren't bothering her. The only guy she wanted being a pervert was Haymitch. ANd if Haymitch hadn’t been around, and if there had been less witnesses, she would have done a lot more damage to the creep. Gale was surprised to hear Amethyst had a crush on him. "Really?" That explained things. It didn't really bug him, it was kind of nice actually. "I don't know." He shrugged and thought about what else they could do now. Should they meet and greet some others? Though they hadn't done much, Gale felt as though they did. It would be impossible for them to meet everyone at the Ball. He looked to where Prim was looking and saw Haymitch and Katniss say goodbye to the older woman. He was also pleased to see them also mingling. He wasn't sure how much Katniss could stand but if Haymitch was around, he was sure things wouldn't get too old of hand. "I think we should leave them alone." He said. He didn't feel up to dealing with Katniss who was probably going to be watching his every move around Primrose. He wanted to enjoy the night for what it was without dealing with the drama their relationship had created. "Oh look, dessert." Gale said and pointed to a table which he hadn't seen before. He figured the food had been taken away to make room for more special sweet treats. He wondered if Peeta had seen them. He put an arm around Prim and walked over to where the set up was. They saw a large collection of chocolate covered fruit, cookies, small tarts and other pastries. "How about we make a plate and head outside for some fresh air?" He proposed. Gale then began to pick out a variety of things, some chocolate covered strawberries and oranges, he picked out some fruit custard tarts and some other small delights. He looked to Prim to see if she wanted him to add anything to the plate. When they were both satisfied with everything, he carried the plate and headed outside with Primrose. He looked around and was pleased with the lack of bodied outside. Many people were inside for whatever reason but that gave the pair some time where they weren't being watched by strangers. "I think we can find someplace over here." He mentioned and walked over to the entrance to the garden. It had tall green shrubs and flowers everywhere. There were small dim lights coming from the plants which created a pretty romantic settings for the pair. "A bench." A place to rest their feet would be good and he had a feeling Prim wanted to take a load off her poor feet. He couldn't imagine what heels were like and he was in no way going to suggest ever trying them on to see what they were like either. He sat down and set the plate of sweet snacks between them and removed his outer blazer, not sure if he should give it to Prim. Was she cold? He didn't know so he set it down on the grass under the bench so if either needed it, it would be there. Picking up a chocolate covered strawberry, he took a bite and then another to quickly make sure he wouldn't make a mess. Though he didn't care much for the clothes he had on, he didn't want to make a mess and cause Effie or a stylist to make a fuss. "I don't think we'll get to have peace and quite like this for a while." They had only a few more days until the Games began. They had training, Peeta's party, the interviews and then that would be it and he couldn't afford to lose sight of what could happen, what good things could happen. "When we're out of the arena, we'll get to have all the quiet days we could want." At least he hoped that was the case. He picked up a blueberry tart and took a bite. "Mmm...I'm gonna miss the food though." He said. It was a small thing to miss but compared to the food back home, he could admit the food was much better and he wondered if somehow down the line, he could try and cook with Prim and recreate the gems from the Capitol. A home with Prim..that was a comforting thought.
