Name: Gen Age: 23 Gender: Male Appearance: Gen wears red and black monk’s robe from his old home and a black gas mask that obscures the bottom half of his face. He had goggles that are made so you can’t see his eyes. There’s a gap in between to show the third eye that all Combustion Benders have. However, he covers his tattoo with a red headband when he's not fighting. He’s tall and slightly wide, but looks wider thanks to his big robe. His hair is long and brown, tied in a ponytail to keep his forehead clear so nothing would get in the way of his bending. Abilities: Gen is a Firebender capable of using the combustion technique. He’s also a talented firebender, even if he hardly uses normal bending. He’s also very fast on his feet. Equipment and Bionics: His robe holds many pockets on the inside, holding knickknacks and bits of food and first aid gear. His sole weapon is an easily concealed silenced pistol for occasions where he needs to take out an opponent without causing an explosion. He also has a tablet computer with a particularly sturdy protective case, though he's no hacker. Personality: Gen is a quiet individual, not out of shyness but just out of habit. He’s direct, but tries not to be a jerk about. He’s a surprisingly gentle soul despite his destructive power and dark appearance. He appreciates art and culture, trying to get in touch with his spiritual side. Backstory: Abandoned by his parents for reasons he’ll never know, Gen was raised in a temple in the Fire Nation by a group of monks who taught him the basics of Firebending. While he was a fast learner, he was more interested in the artifacts and artwork within the temple, taking up drawing with the new technology being released by the ever-expanding Future Industries (despite the monks’ insistence he stick with more traditional methods.) Through means that were beyond his comprehension at his young age, he was discovered to have the rare ability of Combustion Bending. The monks taught him the basics of this after giving him the third eye tattoo. He had heard of the growing tensions between the Fire Nation and Future Industries, but he was willing to ignore it until it came to his home. The head of a Future Industries subsidiary came to the temple, telling the head monk his plans to seize the land the temple was built on to further the company’s research on the spirit world, making particular use of artifacts of Avatar Roku. When the head monk made it clear they would not budge no matter the offer, the businessman pulled out a gun and shot him in the stomach, threatening his life. In desperation to save his adopted father, Gen unleashed his first blast of Combustion bending at the suit, hitting him at full power square in the chest. The horrific display saved his master… but the executive’s guards ran away to avoid any further blasts. With a heavy heart and a tearful farewell, the head monk ordered Gen to leave the temple, giving him instructions on how to get out of the Fire Nation in secret. Making the most of his meager supplies, Gen spent the rest of his adolescence learning to control his unique abilities. Though he swore an oath of pacifism, he knew that if he had not acted, the entire temple would have been at risk, so he knew this oath was not as unbreakable as he wished it was. He eventually found the Stormcrows, and is now preparing for what he hopes is the key to bringing down Future Industries.
Here's my character. Might change his outfit after the mission. Also, sorry about the lack of details about how he got his powers, but I don't want to speculate and risk contradicting future material, either in the thread or in canon.
