A combined arms scenario comes to my mind. Late in World War II, almost every American tank column had aerial support, guided by radio-equipped observers operating from the tanks. Maybe we can do the same with Strike and Tank Witches, in concert with conventional units, if we're pushing towards Karlsland in 1944. I think there's lots of character development to be had simply by living on the battlefield. I've read a couple of war memoirs, and comparing the fresh recruits in basic training to the dull-eyed veterans in the later pages, naive optimism contrasting with brutal pragmatism, can be stunning.
