Kijani did mutter protests as Connor lifted her from the ground, but she wasn't truly in the mood to argue. She wasn't sure when he'd gotten strong enough to lift her like that, either. He'd changed, so much. It was partly her doing, she thought, but she knew she couldn't take credit for all of Connor's maturing. Still, her grandmother's words echoed in her mind. Connor would get what he wanted from her- maturity, confidence, even more- and then he would leave. Maybe he wouldn't mean it, but... Kijani truly couldn't stop her mind from denying the possibiliy. She didn't speak until Connor set her down in bed. His voice was so soft, somehow hurt. "Connor, you can't stay here... They'll think we're sleeping together, we'll both get in trouble." She shut her eyes and curled toward the wall. "Besides, someone like you would become a great man, no matter the circumstances. It's always been in you. I'm sure no one ever doubted that you would be great." She let out a slow breath, one that shook. "Please go, Connor. I just want to sleep." -- Devika managed to get the harness on properly, and she watched the wall for some sort of pattern before starting to climb. Slowly, she made her way up, nearly losing her grip twice before making it halfway.
