I just assumed it was an obvious AOE affect, and that he had completely forgotten, or not though about, that Eclipse would be included.

Actually, I stated in the post that he specifically made a deal with each of them, while pretending to be a forest deity, as he would need their consent to cast the spell.

It's happened now, so it's canon, but for the record, the spell shouldn't have done that. Apparently, there was a fluke.
