Well, the crossbow isn't being used traditionally, rather, it's being used to bolster allied abilities and defenses through the use of AOE spells distributed by the Dust-enchanted bolts. I could add a melee form to the crossbow in case things ever get sticky for the character, but I'd rather keep it support-oriented. I'll have to see what the GM as well as the rest of my team says about it before I write anything.

@Lucius: HOLY CRAP, THANK YOU FOR THAT IDEA. In all seriousness, that works perfectly for what I was thinking.

@MMM: Using even a relvolver x-bow would work, as this character isn't a damage dealer, they would be adding more damage through Dust infusion.
