Well... a great number of nobles were simply married to other families to strengthen the bonds with other families, both males and females. Anyhow, most of them became clercs; a really little percentage of nobles became wandering knights, mostly in search of fame and a title, though this custom greatly disappeared as the national monarchies began to sprung.
