Other than being military leaders, soldiers and church members. Like, it doesn't seem there's a lot of career possibilities for nobles. Once we get a navy I guess admiralty will also be an option, but that falls under military leader as well. Could they be merchants or just hire merchants to work for them as a source of income? I guess diplomats, bailiffs and such were also jobs for nobility. > > It would be a lot less confusing if you just called it gold*. As for jobs, I don't know anything about that, but I've planned on making my noble house the decedents of a group of bandits that destroyed a friendless noble house that had fallen upon tough times and took over their land. As you can imagine, there will be a lot of banditry involved in my activities in this RP. > > *e.g. This costs 10 gold and that costs 20 gold Yes but gold is not exactly as precise. There's a big difference between costs of castle upkeep and paying your troops (e.g. a foot soldier was paid 6 pence a day while a knight was paid 2 shillings while costs of castles would be in thousands of pounds). Beside precision, it also gives more of a realistic feel and the immersion of medieval ages. Anyway, I will put the currency on the front page once I start the RP so it's easy to find along with other useful information. I like the idea for the family history though, can't wait to read it.
