"Shit. Well looks like I'll have some company for now. Come on, Shane, step up!", The Thief thought to himself as he leaped from one ledge to another. The end of the pool was some distance ahead and from the looks of it Shadow only had 3 more ledges until she was onto the next obstacle. "Always up for a challenge!", he replied to Shadow as he hooked himself onto the next ledge and with all the strength in his legs kicked off and propelled him through the air over the pool. This would not come without consequence however for upon landing he hit the ground hard on his arm but managed to roll and get back on his feet.  At this point the adrenaline in his system was eliminating the pain from his leg and his run, despite showing a minor limp, still managed to have a decent speed. He glanced back at Shadow and smirked before that all too familiar feeling hit him in the side, another turrent had fired dirently into his waist. "GETTIN REAL TIRED OF THIS!", he howled before running ahead this time keeping an eye on where all the upcoming turrents were positioned.  The next obstacle was something he hadn't expected. There was a path, about as wide as the hallways at the academy, but inside were these poles that's moved horizontally vertically throughout the hallway with speed. "Those things ain't there for no reason", he whispered to himself. He ran into the hallway and dodged the first pole, as it whizzed by him he could hear a buzzing sound. "Great..electrified", he groaned as he continued on through the hallway. It wasn't long before he exited on the other side. "That was easy enough I was sure I'd get-DAMMIT!", before he could finish there was another pole that was hidden just outside the hallway and managed to deliver a small but painful shock into Shane's body.  He moved past it and ran up ahead. Just like at the starting line there were large tiles making a 10x10 path towards what seemed the final obstacle before the finish line. "Almost there, common push a little further!", this course was getting the best of him but he wasn't givinf up just yet. He stepped onto a tile and immediately random tiles one space ahead fell. "So every tile I step on...another falls ahead. I gotta go fast enough to stay in the lead but pace myself as well. Not trying to fall down wherever those tiles go". Shane took a deep breath, his torso burning as it expanded. He jumped onto another tile and gave a second to find the next tile. He repeated the process until he came up to a tile that was 4 spaces away from the last obstacle. All the tiles ahead had fallen aqua leaving another gap to jump. This time there was no running start. "Well shit...", he said under his breath as he prepared to jump. His leg was still limp and with the last of the strength in his legs he kicked off and miraculously closed the gap. His legs hitting hard against the other side of the obstacle course.  The final obstacle was something he wasn't expecting, it looked to be the entrance to another room. Slowly opening the door Shane stuck his head through the doorway and was greeted by darkness only there seemed to be something inside as well. He could hear the whirring of machines along with the sloshing of water and what sounded like something powering up. He fully entered the room and the door slammed shut behind him. In an instant the whole room lit up for 3 seconds and revealed the origins of the sounds. The room, save from where where he was standing, was up to the knees with water. Turrents mounted along the walls of the room, each with different ammunition: nets, rubber bullets, and even gravity clamps which upon making contact with its target would instantly pin them to the ground. Under the water were nets meant to trip any traversing the pool and areas where the bottom was uneven and contained small footsized pits. Across all of this stood a door at the end of the room which Shane assumed to lead to the finish. After that short moment of revelation the lights went off again and in its place a strobe light giving vision for fractions of seconds. The sound of a buzzer and the activation of a green light at the end door signaled Shane to go and so he did. Jumping into the pool he immediately got his right foot caught in a net and was consequently shot multiple times with rubber bullets, "DAMN-SON-OF-BIT-SHIT!" he cried as each one hit it's mark leaving bruises and welts on his body. The only thought that eased the pain was he soon wouldn't be alone in this.
