If your Pokémon has a high Affection towards you, which is only determined by PokémonAmie, it is more likely to get critical hits and has a chance at surviving attacks that would otherwise KO it. Of course, these effects only appear in the playthrough as the Affection element is removed for wifi battles and in the Battle Maison.
