Character App
Name: Tex Errant. Race: Enchanted cat-form familiar/Magic Miscellanea. Gender: Male. Age: 21 Description: Tex was for most of his life the familiar of the great wizard Tessegnach. Tessegnach, despite his fame and prowess, much preferred a life of seclusion and never ventured far from his tower, where Tex was his sole companion. As he grew so old that even his mighty sorcery was unable to sustain his presence in the land of the living for much longer, he desperately sought an apprentice upon which he could impart his secrets and legacy. However, in his many decades of isolation, Tessegnach had grown quite paranoid of outsiders. Instead, an unusual solution came to mind. Tessegnach was a master of alterative magic. The surreal environs, flora and fauna found around his tower remain today a testament to the potency of his craft. He ultimately decided that Tex, his faithful servant, would inherit all that was his. However, while Tex was undoubtedly magically gifted, in the form of a four legged cat, he would not be able to serve as Tessegnach's successor so well. So the somewhat mad Tessegnach saw to it that Tex would be imbued with a more suitable form. The experiment was a success. From then on Tex has resembled a humanoid with feline features. He is cloaked from head to toe with black fur with a white underbelly. Tex has maintained his tail and a head much resembling that of a cat's. He is of a lithe frame and stands at about 5'5". His eyes are a faintly glowing lemon quartz hue. Tex proved to be an apt, eager pupil. While in his former life he was more than capable of conjuring a spell or two, his new form facilitated the gestures and other rituals used to invoke more advanced magic. While certainly not as skilled as his master, Tex himself grew to be quite adept at the craft. Soon enough, the inevitable occurred, and Tessegnach at last passed away. The tower and all of its contents now belonged to Tex, and still does today. However, his feline nature prohibits him from living the isolated life of his predecessor. With curiosity and wanderlust gnawing at him always, he periodically embarks on trips from his tower to where ever his fascination pulls him. In his studying he came across many mentions of the vast city of "Areapolis." Drawn by tales of its grandeur, it is here that he today seeks whatever opportunities and adventures await. While he still holds the utmost respect for his master, he tends to downplay his connection to the legendary man, eager for an opportunity to prove himself on his own individual merits. However, one thing Tessegnach never got around to teaching Tex in his youth was restraint. His susceptibility to whim also applies to his (mis)usage of his magic. While he knows better than to do anything particularly extreme, he is particularly fond of pranks and other mischief. He also has a great deal of difficulty making heads or tails of rules, laws and other obligations, and often gets in hot water for not paying them much mind. Apparel: He wears a mostly dark blue outfit consisting of a signature broad-rimmed, pointed wizard hat, a coat with a high collar, an undershirt, knickerbockers and pointed boots with tips that curl ever so slightly upwards. He carries with him at all times his master's staff, which often has a small bag tied to its head.
Race App
Name: Magic Miscellanea. Description: Tex does not belong to a race as such, but more a particular category of entity. Magic Miscellanea are creatures born of experimentation and tampering utilizing arcane energies. There is thus no particular continuity between them, save for their common origin. In a world full of wizards and other magic users, there are bound to be many aberrations running about, some more readily integrated into society than others. They are often scorned or distrusted in less accepting parts of the world. It's a not unearned reputation, given the destructive habits of the majority of Magic Miscellanea. The more peaceable examples tend to be cosmopolitans, generally never allowing themselves to get anchored to any one place or identity.
