No is was a shifting of energies, during a span of about five minutes at certain places you could move between the worlds but the geography still looks the same, if of course the walls fail completely that would be when places start to move as well and a massive shit storm.

For the Great Fairy, the Realignment Quake was designed before you got here and its intent was to separate Link from any of his mystical allies by blocking there passage through dimensional barriers into Hyrule, because of that I'm sorry to say at the moment the Great Fairies can't manifest in Hyrule or communicate with anyone in Hyrule so I wouldn't really advise taking on the Great Fairy cause well she's not going to have a whole lot to do. We'll likely visit the fairy realm later on but she can't follow us out and it wouldn't last a terribly long time so if she did appear it would be better she be an NPC just cause of the shear amount of no being there she is going to be doing.
