The living cactus didn't seem all that smart. Even an animal would run away from the superior numbers. But if it was alive, then it could be killed...

Isaac jumped at the cactus, bringing down his knife for a downward slashing strike. [rolled 5]
His knife finds it's mark as Isaac goes down, tearing a large gash into the cactus. Isaac landed and jumped back. Stupid as the cactus was, it could still dish out some pain, as proven by the unfortunate Harry. He wouldn't appreciate cactus spikes sticking into his flesh.
