Prometheans come from a later edition of the game universe often called the nWoD, where as Vampire the Masquerade is part of the oWoD.

That being said, I believe you're right. A Promethean character would complicate things, if not for the game mechanics, then for the PCs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the environment around the Created withers and dies if s/he stays for a long enough period of time.
