"Lord Corbray returns! Lord Corbray returns victorious!" Came the cry from the south gate. Peasants stopped in middle of their chores as the words rang out, cries of joy quickly begining to sound throughout the dusty marketplace and the crowds gathered to welcome home their liege and his host. The banner of House Corbray, the teal snake upon a field of tan and burgandy, whipped in the wind as the thirty horses came to the gate at a gallop. At the head of the column rode a man that, were it not for the impressive plate armor and rich surcoat matching his house's banner, could easily be mistaken for a commonn farmer. With his receding hairline, thick mustahce and generally non-regal face, it was almost a comical sight for those unfamiliar with the man. Lord Krager Corbray smiled at the peasants as they cheered at his return, his pig-faced helmet tucked under his arm and mace rattling witch eager step the large spotted gray beneth him made. The battle had been a victory, and he took what small comfort he could from the fact that only two of the horses were returning riderless. He would see to those mens' families. Slowly the column came to a halt in the center of town, his gray snorting as it relieved itself right then and there. That never helped with speeches. "People of Farthing, my friends, we claim another victory over the usurper today! His raiders in our lands lay dead at Lake Karth, and Ovorion is reminded the people of Karthwasten will not submit to a traitor's rule!" He hated speeches, really, but they helped with the people's morale, and these days that was as valuable as a sword and soldier. The peasants let out another cheer, and Krager couldn't help the faint smile on his lips, even as he looked back at his exhausted soldiers. He dismounted with the aid of his squire, a younger woman of around 20 years of age garbed in splintmail and a tan surcoat. His troops followed suit, and within minutes they were in the tavern. "See to my men and feed them well! They've fought well today." He told the barkeep as he slid the handful of silver coins across the counter, then turned to seek out Rhysln. It was time to discuss the future.
