I love a great story and my 1x1s are based on complexity and really more advanced writing. Now I'll do a fun short story with good friend now and against, but I find myself loving the 1x1 thing because it's completely different than a group. The dynamics change everything and if there is good chemistry with the players, then there is adventure and humor, love and fighting, tension and drama galore. 

I could never play a game that was just romanced based - kill me.
