Ash did indeed give Jamie his desired grin, and added a laugh. "I can't believe you actually bribed a teacher."

At Jamie's mention of the lake Ash gave a slight wistful look. "It's painful I assure you." She sighed. "Maybe we can get out there this weekend. I might be able to convince Mrs. Reese to take us if I say it's for endurance training. Maybe invite the new girl on the team and teach her the breathing technique, if I can." A part of Ash wanted to leave right then for the lake. A night swim would be amazing. She gave Jamie her devious plotting something grin. "Or, we can, after the main ceremonies at the bonfire slip out over there and go for a nice night swim." They both knew they'd be missed during the main part of the bonfire, but if they got out there after the first bit maybe, with a bit of luck, no one would notice their absence.
