Actually yeah, you can choose what role you want, be it a friend or someone in the biz

Well technically, this is a casual game. There are tabletop elements, but you won't have to worry about those, as it is my duty to take all that stuff in account so that certain mechanics work. 

Currently, we have no openings in the band, but we could always use a back-up just in case someone drops out.

Ah, alright. Could there possibly be another spot that needs to be filled (i.e. groupie, bus driver, friend of the band, drug dealer, etc.) If not, I can always wait for an opening.
