He could well be evil - though if we go by alignments he would be Lawful Evil at most. He's seen so much more evil beings during his travels and lived through so many close calls that even if he was 'evil' he would at least hide it well behind a facade of polite words and a nice smile. He could still rob you blind when you aren't looking - if he had interest in such things - but he wouldn't for instance spit acid in your eyes just to get a cheap laugh.
