The king, shaking himself out of his stunned disbelief, quickly shouted to everyone to help get water to put out the fire. It was questionable at this point whether the people ran out of the courthouse because of panic or to get help. You are all in the currently burning courthouse.

You run out of the building to help get water from the closest well. As you approach the well, however, you notice monsters approaching from just beyond the well, and the men at the well already frantically trying to pull up water do not notice them! The monsters have already plowed through some people on their way, as evidenced by the smears and splatters of blood trailing behind them. Just as the men get their haul of water to the top of the well, the monsters are upon them...
