Though for the record, the Brood converts matter and energy to their preferred form of mana, which they then consume. A slight but noteworthy difference.

It's two-way

When they create the 'portal' to hyperspace, it appears in front of them, but unlike most people's, it isn't just facing them. When they set coordinates, it's like making a bridge from the spot right in front of them, to wherever they need to go, provided there aren't any trees or rocks (planets and the like) in the way. But they can only get on from that side- if someone were on the exact opposite side, and were facing the Draconian ship when it made the portal, then it would work similarly to this, blue being Draconian, red being whoever. Arrows mean which way you enter their portal; [o] means where you come out. )> or <( are the ships.
