Jack would have nearly exclaimed when he nailed his target, until he saw Violet roll off the edge and nearly fall. He had a moment to think as he fell. He saw the havoc that was brought on at the top, and he knew he could make his move if he acted now.

But...

Against his better judgement, and almost oblivious of the blast that headed his way, he moved to the end of the pyramid and planted a foot firmly in the ground as he grabbed Violet's hand and hauled her up onto the edge. "Other team or not, I'll save all of you before I let you fall."

Jack hoped she wouldn't capitalize on this moment, but he was prepared if she were to do so.
