Shiranui was surprised to find a Charmander frolicking about.  Having known about their species since his father had one, he offered a bit of bait and the Charmander took it.  While it was eating, Shiranui gently tapped Charmander with a Safari Ball and the starter was drawn in.  After a minute the ball pinged shut and Shiranui nicknamed his new friend Kaki.
