The kiss made her feel nothing - maybe that was sad but it was definitely a thought for another time - but it definitely worked as a distraction. She didn't have to wait for his flaunting to notice what had happened, the glaring blankness of the table was immediately evident to her. Kat looked up to the doorway as he disappeared and had to decide then and there what to do. If she was another girl she would go straight to an authority figure; the case was damning when spun the right way which would be easy enough. But she was not another girl and the weak, vulnerable act wouldn't work around here. Instead she stood and walked - not run - out and into the halls. Unfortunately for Lee she had been in attendance for far longer than she liked, she knew the building inside and out. Seeing the way he ran off Kat ducked in the opposite direction, expertly navigating her way around. She briefly considered meeting him with fire but the set-up would be no where near the payoff; that was just the dramatic flair that would get her killed one day. She walked out in time to see Lee turn the corner and stood her ground, blocking his way as those who were around quickly scuttled away. "That was a neat trick but it won't work twice. Seems a shame to waste it on a book you can't read." One look at him now showed the contents of the book were secondary to its worth. She noted his staff but drew no weapon of her own, it would only reveal a power of hers anyway which she would forestall for as long as possible. Keep your hands clean. "Give it back, or we start playing the game by my rules. And here I was thinking we were on the same team..." As she stood tall before him she considered the many responses and briefly wondered whose word would be believed: the thief or the deceiver.
Well that was definitely Lee's awful luck for him. In hindsight he should have focused on understanding his environment first instead of looking for potential recruits. In fact Lee broke thieving rule no. 2 always understand your surroundings and plan ahead! Ugh if Phantom was here now the old man would have smacked him over the head with a book not to dissimilar to the one he just stole. Feet came skidding to a halt against the tile floor screeching in the process. Brown eyes peered from underneath the hood at the woman standing before him. Then Lee did the only thing Lee would confronted by an annoyed woman, he smirked. "Good I want to see what your rules are Kat. If we are going to be on the same team lets see the Kat chase the rodent." Ok that was without a doubt one of the dumbest lines he ever said to a girl. "By the way...." Lee said slowly taking a step back. "Did I tell you my rule no. 3?" Lee asked taking yet another step back the grin on his face still visible beneath is dark hood. "Improvise!" with a twirl of his staff he slammed one of the ends resembling a wrench down causing both ends of the weapon to suddenly release its smoke bombs. Plumes of thick dark smoke quickly filled the hallway startling some of the students present watching the scene. Several shrieked, some swore outloud with others whispering it under their breaths. The students' outcries of protest towards this situation only grew worse when the smoke reached the sprinkler systems and set them off releasing showers of water down upon the students who quickly began to exit the hallway and flee from the minor chaos that was occurring. By the time the smoke cleared, Lee was gone the only signs of where the thief could have gone was one of the nearby classroom doors hanging open. While the other possible escape route was a nearby ventilation shaft with the grate barely hanging to the wall above a row of lockers that looked barely big enough to fit someone of Lee's thin shape.
