[*] Enhanced Senses: Thanks to the unwilling augumentation from the Saiyans, Yumi's five senses are more sensitive than a typical human beings'. [*] Empathetic Link: Unknown how it came about, Yumi can influence emotions of those around her just by being in their proximity. Likely from pheromones.
Bio: Yumi has held a lifelong fascination of martial arts, beginning at a very young age. Her grandfather was a martial arts instructor, and at the age of four she was introduced to one of his classes. While most girls her age played with dolls and played 'family', Yumi spent long hours mimicking things she had seen older students do... Or try to, at least. It was much a hobby for her growing up as it was an escape, particularly from her father. Her parents were relatively successful, enough so that their name carried a bit of weight even in a place like Capsule Corp. Despite having a comfortable life, things at home were not all smiles and sunshine. Her father was and is an alcoholic, never exactly the ideal father figure a child would want. Through her parents' friendship with Vegeta's own parents it was inevitable that she and him were to become friends. At the insistence of Vegeta's father, Aito, Yumi eventually joined a formal martial arts school alongside her new found friend. So much time was spent practicing martial arts that it quickly became her main hobby. Even as she enrolled in school she would often take lessons afterwards, or practice alongside Vegeta. The fact she was at a disadvantage never deterred her, she continued to practice. It may have been her learning alongside a Saiyan, but soon she and Vegeta were the top of their class. Both were young when they enrolled in an adult course, and even then they were some of the best students. Her infatuation with martial arts came at the great displeasure of her father, a man who had never been shy of speaking his mind. Because of his often negative and crude behavior towards her Yumi developed a rather strong disdain of men. With the exception of a few people, Vegeta and Viral included, she had little use for the opposite sex. Her innate dislike of men and her tendency to go against the norm for girls gained her plenty of attention in her school years, mostly negative. She hardly cared though, she had what made her happy. She would eventually finish school, and lessons at her former dojo. Wanting to expand her martial arts further she began moving around East City and beyond, trying to train wherever she could. Personality: Self-sufficient, a proud fighter and loyal, Yumi is happy to stand as an equal to some of the universe’s best fighters. Stern yet compassionate, she often ridicules others for making foolish choices or taking risks, purely out of concern for their well-being. She is supportive of those around her and pushes them to improve, often times putting their needs above her own. As such she has slipped somewhat behind the rest, and while she acknowledges this fact and it bothers her slightly she still persists in helping her friends. Out of anything else, Yumi values those she can trust and confide in the most. Having grown up in a slightly dysfunctional home she had trouble trusting people growing up, particularly men. As she grew older and became more independent that changed, albeit she still exhibits disdain towards oppressive or otherwise unpleasant men. As of late, the one thing she desperately wants above all else is for her friends to be helped, and she yearns to see Viral returned to his former self. She has slightly romantic feelings for him, yet she still views him more as a sibling than a potential love interest. Confident in her abilities and her strengths, Yumi stands up for what she thinks is right, even if sometimes she’s mistaken. She’s not against accepting other views and will readily change her own if convinced, and she’s happy to accommodate others. Though she isn’t a Saiyan like many of her friends she still considers herself a strong warrior, and holds her head up high whenever they fight together. When she isn’t busy saving the universe from nasty individuals she loves engrossing herself in studies of martial arts; it is her vast knowledge of different styles that she takes the greatest pride in, more so than any personal belonging.
