My father's side is Irish and Ukrainian. Irish grandfather, Ukrainian grandmother. The Irish first headed to Ontario once they were in Canada, but a branch of the family wanted to keep to their agricultural roots and ended up moving out west to Saskatchewan. Probably a similar story with the Ukrainian.

My mother's side is British, inclusively. English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish... apparently a bit of French too, which my grandfather coyly denies. They'd simply call themselves 'Canadian', though.
