Kijani closed her computer, her hands shaking. What she was writing hurt, but the truth had to be told. Still, before she finished with that, there was something she had to do. It made her stomach twist, but there was nothing in it to throw up anymore.

She picked up her phone and stared at it, her finger hovering above the button to call Connor. At the very last second, she lost her nerve, and texted him instead.
