Waking up early was usually no biggie for Hikoto. He was always on time to wake up, even if his attendance showed that he was occasionally late for classes that began only an hour or two later. This morning was different, partially because Hikoto had only fallen asleep five hours previous. 'Why did I spend 5 hours pacing around my room? Was it the energy drink? Is that even possible? Even after I wore myself down by pacing around for hours and then sleeping, I still feel the energy. Did it mingle with my lightning powers? HAS IT SUPER CHARGED MY ABILITY!? That would be awesome!' Quickly standing up, Hikoto moved his hands to face each-other and began forming some static in between his two forefingers. "If it has super charged me, it'll be noticeable. Very noticeable." The static, which usually lasts for MUCH longer even on an off day, uncharacteristically fizzled out after a few seconds. Disappointed, Hikoto got ready for school. Dressed like he usually was, schoolbag hanging from his right shoulder and his hair only slightly less of a mess than it usually was, Hikoto made his way through the schoolyard, looking for a place to sit near his first period. Hikoto quickly found a place to sit by an old tree that didn't seem to have many people around. 'Just as well. For once I'd like to sit by myself and figure this out.' While he was sure no-one was looking, Hikoto began making more static, always fizzling out before it even got to five seconds. Of course, every possible theory had been analyzed. "Gus" energy drink had 'short circuited' him and now his power was on the fritz, or maybe his power was disappearing altogether. Perhaps he had sweated too much from pacing around and the moistness had made his power flimsy. All of these were, of course, nonsense, but Hikoto needed something to blame. Powers don't just suddenly suck after one night. It doesn't work like that. There has to be a reason, but what?
