Name: Professor Elijah Chatsworth Age: 38 Gender: Male Race: Human Class: Armoury Weapon: Gentleman's Paramour: If you somehow manage to steal the key that he constantly keeps on his person then you can gain access to a weapon cache large enough to give the authorities a series of significant heart-attacks. As an inventor and collector of fine weaponry, Elijah clearly has a nose for excellent workmanship so a weapon needs to be of the highest quality for him to even consider using it. For that reason, it usually perplexes people as to why he uses what appears to be a simple gun that has no alternative forms. Well, the reason for his choice of armament is down to the fact that it is not what it appears to be. The Gentleman's Paramour is regarded by him as one of the greatest fully-automatic weapons he has ever created. Primarily, it's because he looks really damn classy when using it but also because of the dust-injection system which allows him to instantly switch what type of dust his bullets are infused with at a moment's notice. This is invaluable when having to switch between enemies that might be susceptible to one form of dust and strong against another. Of course, appearances are usually very deceiving because the weapon does have the ability to turn into a melee weapon but Eli typically doesn't like to use that, finding his aim to be much more reliable. On occasion, he'll break out some really big guns but he's only done this once before which creates an air of mystery surrounding just how capable his weaponry is. Specialty: Being a man who favours the Tommy Gun over its melee counterpart, he prefers a clean, coordinated fight where things occur precisely in-line with what was planned to happen. This is just what he prefers, it doesn't mean that's he's completely incapable in chaotic situations. When battles descend down into a chaotic nature, this is usually when Elijah employs chaos as his ally and breaks out the explosives. Being a demolition-expert as well as an inventor, Eli has a lot of experience in blowing things up which happened nearly as much as he had to fix things. To sum it all up, he prefers to do a lot of damage at range while mostly staying out of harm's way. Semblance: Hephaestus' Touch: Eli has the ability to temporarily breath existence into a contraption. What this means is that instead of just following a set series of commands, like a machine normally does, it can momentarily think about things and act accordingly. These contraptions also seem to gain the ability to possess emotions and often have their own personalities. This is only useful when he needs some sort of intelligent auto-pilot system or if he has a contraption that needs to analyze an event and act accordingly. This instant gain of basic sentience lasts depending on just how much effort he has put into it. If he puts minimal effort into something then it will last longer (about an hour) and perform menial tasks. If he pours a lot of effort into it then he will tire and the contraption won't last lost (about 5-10 minutes) but it will be able to process things intelligently. Personality: A brutally efficient gentleman is probably the best term to describe him. To his subordinates, he's needlessly loud and to the point. If there's a job to do it has to be done quickly and effectively. If it wasn't for the occasional bout of patience then he would probably be better suited as a sergeant. Nevertheless, one can easily see that he excels in his career and can generally earn the mutual respect of his students just from what he can do and what he can help them with. Away from his normal work, it's said that his manners have been refined to a state of excellency and he's one of the lucky few to have actually earned a smile from Glynda Goodwitch (no easy task, mind you). To someone just entering his class in first year, he'll more than likely have the appearance of someone who's sole existence is to make your life miserable with note-taking and boring lessons. By the end of the year, however, students usually find themselves being drawn towards his method of teaching. If Ozpin didn't have complete reliance in all his teachers then Elijah would probably worry him a lot - it's been rumoured that he teaches classes how to make improvised explosive devices with limited materials. That's a pretty good lesson though, if you think about what the job of a Hunter entails. He does have a few problems though. He's subject to occasional bouts of anger that seemingly arise from nothing and can cloud his good judgement. When these occasions arise, however, a friend will quickly talk him down. One can tell just from looking at the professor that he's seen some very dark things in his time - things that he probably wouldn't want to see again. If someone pays close attention to him, they might notice how his right hand will start to shake. When this happens, he usually adds a little whiskey from his flash to his cup of coffee and the shaking stops. Being a fan of the cigar, well-aged brandy and pocket-watches, the Professor can sometimes appear as high-class and you wouldn't be wrong to suggest that he does have quite a bit of money but he certainly didn't originate from nobility. He grew up in a poor family and if it wasn't for his outstanding effort at the academy, he wouldn't be in the position he's in today. For that reason, he has a soft-spot for common urchins or the throwaways of society. Color: Ecru Emblem: A wrench and a hammer, forming a 'x' from their positioning.
Standing at just over six feet tall and having particularly well-defined muscles, Eli probably lives up to some assumptions that he used to be in the military. Just because he doesn't engage in as many missions as he used to doesn't mean that he stops keeping his physique ready just in case the event arises. There doesn't seem to be any real reason for the shades apart from the fact that he looks pretty badass when wearing them but he does like having a disconnect between his students and him; the eyes are the windows to the soul, after all. He keeps his beard well-trimmed mainly because he likes keeping up the appearances.
