But the goblins of Moria managed to reach The One Ring before Gollum could sneak past the balrog. Gollum followed The One Ring back to The Goblin King of Moria and eventually, he followed The One Ring on it's journey Dol Guldur, awaiting an opportunity to take back his precious.
