"You have a point." He answered, leaning back in his chair as he considered what was being said. "War aside, both Nova Domov and Brislow have much to gain from making an alliance with each other. It would also serve as a means of protecting the other if it so happens one of us is attacked or invaded, either by Lagita, Monrot, or some other country in the future." He was fairly certain allying himself with this nation wouldn't have many repercussions; they were a level headed neighbor and Vollen had high doubts they would use the alliance to needlessly engage in war with other countries. 

"I can see where your concern comes from. While I don't rely heavily on their trade, I know that cutting off both ties will cause damage of some kind." He paused to sip at his water, setting it down once he had successfully eased the itch in his throat. "Though I do believe that both options of the matter will have some negative backlash against us. Cutting off trade with them would show our disapproval, which, in your words, would anger them. But there is also the possibility that if we still send resources as normal,they might attack the ships going to the other country. That would be endangering our citizens then, and would stir up our people to fight back against them. Though, that's the worst case scenario and I think it's a little less likely to happen."
