I don't know enough about magic to know how to answer this.

But right now, for all intents and purposes it's still there.

As I understand Fairy Tail magic, the spell is still there it just has no power to remain active, and since it's 'deactivated', it'll either take returning to Earthland or having his mother re-activate it for it to start working again. (So using an X-Ball would have no effect on it)
