Pain. It was all she had known for hours. How long had it been since she had been taken? She didn't know anymore. Pain, fear and anger coursed through her. Fear at what her captors were going to do to her, anger at them for doing this to her, using her as a pawn to get to her sire and her family. But the pain... the pain was constant. And the pain made the fear worse, so much so that she could taste it along with the blood in her mouth. To hear her sire's voice was almost as painful as the torture. She wanted to call out to him, but the bastards had gagged her, taking away even her voice from her. She had hoped that if she could sing perhaps she could convince them to let her go. But now she had screamed so much that even if they ungagged her she wouldn't be able to sing to her full power. Lucian... his face filled her mind, making her eyes well with tears. How she longed for him, for the safety of his embrace, for the comfort of his beautiful voice and to gaze into the endless pools of his eyes. Her heart yearned for him as much as for Alistair, her sire. Then, as if the torture was not enough, the creature, the Goblin, put his hands on her. She flinched under his touch, screaming through the leather strap in protest as his vile lips molested hers. If she could have spit at him she would have, but she had to settle with giving him a look that could have wilted flowers. To be demeaned in this way, laying naked and bloodied and brusied, to be touched in this way. She thought she had left all of that behind when Alistair had turned her. He had always protected her from things such as this. He was her sire in every sense of the word. He had not only given her life but had become her father, her older brother, her family. She glared at both of the males. There was fear in her eyes, because of the pain they had wrought on her body, but also anger. The fire, though dampened a little, had not left Maria completely. If they thought to take her by force, they would have a fight on their hands. But even as she glared at them with murder in her eyes, she shook with fear and tears fell down her cheeks from the pain, the salt only adding to the sting.
