Thing is, we are supposed to be stronger than the stereotypical genin you saw in Naruto's first episode. We have been trained for war for the past five years or so. I don't think I made that crystal clear in the OP.

The Shunshin issue isn't really an issue. Obviously, high-speed teleportation is a problem in player vs player combat, but like I said before - unless your enemy sits there stupidly and watches you make a handseal, form chakra, and Shunshin, you won't be using it in combat.

Edit: Yeah, Shunpo is a pretty main part of Satoshi's arsenal, and will be upgraded with more speed as time goes on. His signature technique, pretty much.
