Sam smiled slightly, despite everything at her question as she helped him through the wall. “I was worried.” He said simply at first. The village was in sight and the pair were slowly making their way back to it, but Sam could feel himself growing weaker, blood still dripped from his wounds despite Jayna’s best attempts to patch them up. He needed a doctor. And probably a miracle. “I went to your house to check up on you, after your family disappearing… but you weren’t there. I knew what must have gone through your head, where you must have gone so I guess I had the same mentality as you did. I needed to see if you were still alive.” He laughed slightly. “And I end up coming back in worse shape than you did.” They were closer to the village now, and people were spotting them, calling out in alarm and rushing to help them. Two older males took Sam from Jayna and began carrying him towards the local doctors. “Jayna!” He called back to her. “If you see that boy again… thank him for me will you?” It probably sounded like a really stupid thing to ask, but in the end he had told that creature not to kill him. It was because of him that he was alive now and, though he couldn’t prove it either way, he was certain it was because of that other boy that Jayna was still alive too.
