They're heroes, is the thing. The only way to kill the Joker where he [i]doesn't[/i] win is a legal execution or something like it.

If non-lethality is an option superheroes are supposed to take it, it's how it works. I usually don't mind heroic characters killing enemies but this is a special case given what kind of characters these are.

There's a difference between villains who are threatening and will kill and villains who just senselessly murder all the time.
