I get what you're saying. I am perfectly fine with your plan of creating a Construct (by the normal means, of course) which later becomes a Rogue Construct. I think it is quite a good idea, in terms of story and character.

Deep inside the jungle, there are no fixed settlements, due to the dangerous wildlife. You will find logging villages along the fringes of the jungles, owned by the Cypriots, which could make a good place to start, for it has access to both the jungle and a village. The river is a prime place to find such settlements too, because of the transportation offered by the river. The logging villages are tougher than your average village, but you can use one.
