Cade lay by the wall for a very long time, daemons had very different eyesight to humans. Their vision at night was impeccable, however they struggled to see things that were further away or slow moving though they had the ability to pick up quick moving objects the rest of their senses usually helped to make up for some of their sight weaknesses. Still, he lay there staring out of the hole long after he couldn’t see Luka anymore. However the creature knew he wouldn’t be coming back any time soon and he was still hungry. Standing the creature moved away from the hole reluctantly. He began attempting to focus on the task at hand, his hunger driving him but his mind continued to wonder. Generally the daemons of the wall didn’t take den mates for this reason. They were a distraction. Of course this situation was slightly different than anything any of them had experienced before and often Luka was thought of more of a youngling rather than a partner, which didn’t have to be explicitly sexual. Often daemons would just form exceptionally close bonds with one another. As such he couldn’t help but worry. He already noticed the others avoiding him, afraid of asking the condition of the boy. He just had to believe that he’d be alright. Luka had always proven he was tougher than what they often gave humans credit for. They could survive wounds that would easily kill most other creatures. But this seemed more like a sickness than a wound. He’d never experienced the boy getting sick before.
