Yeh. The Armenian storyline might be simplified because... well, all of our stories are simplified. But It isn't necessarily unbelievable.

France and Algeria. Russia and Afghanistan. The US and France in Vietnam. The US in Iraq. It's a bad idea to underestimate what happens when a group of people are willing to sacrifice everything.

Not to say that people should start using that as an excuse to start doing stupid shit. As a rule of thumb, people only fight when they have a personnel connection to something. You can get people to fight for their homelands much easier than you can to get them to fight far away.
