She's trying to put the past behind her because on no small level, her new, awakened perspective makes memories of the lab disturbing. She views "Nemesis" as a label, a designation for an object, rather than a name. And it's something of a secret ceremony--in allowing him to give her a name, she is passing on the sense of service/purpose from the scientists to him.
