Well, if you were highly natinalist then you would be in a perpetual civil war, you having 20+ cultures and all :P Just kidding, I know what you mean and that's good, now we have a pariah for the world's evil... I mean a very friendly nation... *cough* Communism in Russia was only possible due to the great poverty and loss of lives WW1 caused in Russia, not due to rapid industrialisation because else it would have happened in the 1870's when industrialisation was really kicking it up a notch. And lets not forget that communism in China got caused by farmers instead of factory workers. And back in Russia the reason why the revolution succeeded was because the army supported the Bolshevieks... The army and Germany.
*Stumbles out of wikipedia* Yeah, having done some light reading I see that World War One was definitely an igniting point. Overall though, it looks to be a whole blanket of problems that boiled into one big cauldron of poop. This world is very different to ours, though, I mean let me go snap a quote from the first post. "Burū sekitan even allowed the Asian Powers to build airships, iron ships, mechs, and even aircraft due to the power output of Burū sekita" - So that's happening over in Asia. We got mechs, we got aircraft, surely the sudden explosion of industrialisation - coupled with the unhappiness it always seem to bring - could give someone an argument for a communist revolution, or something like it. A worker's revolution, if you will. I mean Hell, I managed to argue my way into having a neo-medieval kingdom, and so far no one has tried to pick me apart. At the end of the day, I'm not really bothered by it. I'll leave it to you guys/the GM to decide. Thanks for not bundling me.
