Connor watched her, seeing her eyes grow distant. He thought it was as if she was there, in those lessons. Or maybe the past was hard for her. He enjoyed listening to her talk, though. 

"That is incrediably smart. Not many people would think like that. You are an incrediable fighter, and from whatI have seen, a great dancer too. You are ddifferently intriguing, Kijani" when Connor said things like this, he meant them, genuinely, and didn't merely say them to get on peoples good side, or to try and take advantage of someone.

talking like this, he could almost forget they were in a room full of people, at a valentines dance.
