I think Void just started in London because [@Grombus] entered the game while shit seemed to happen there.
But hey now it's cannon, I have a few good explanations for everything so far, but it's more fun to let the puzzle pieces fall in their place during play.

As for blowing the plane out of the sky, regardless of whether that would work or not, it wouldn't make a dramatic scene, so I think he should land before a confrontation takes place.
