Name: Erik MacKinnon Age: 19 Gender: Male Hometown: Veilstone City, Sinnoh Appearance: Erik is a big kid, standing 6'0" and weighing 160lbs. He gets told he's still growing but he just laughs that off. He has long dirty blonde hair that ends just above his shoulders framing a eggshell with-skinned face that has lake blue eyes, a smaller than normal nose and a couple of razor nicks on his face. His frame is lanky and his arms are slightly longer than would be expected hanging off the side of his body. Erik is usually wearing a slate grey or black covered t-shirt covered by a navy blue hooded sweater. The grey t-shirt has black writing saying "Property of East Sinnoh Shockers" while the black shirt has a slanted Pokeball logo in dripping paint on it. Erik rotates blue jeans and has a pair of black and brown hiking boots that never get changed no matter the season or terrain. Personality: Erik tries to maintain something of a tough front in relation to this new journey through the wild. but does get spooked easily. It usually isn't anything small but sudden noises or touches will freak him out. Erik is leery when meeting new people for the first time, but he will warm up to people very easily as they prove they aren't out to get him. He does dote on Katya a lot, the little "cutie" maintaining most of his attention and riding around on his shoulder most of the time. He's smart enough to have Katya attach a thorn to his hoodie to make sure she doesn't get tossed off like a bullrider. That happened a few too many times for both parties to learn their lesson. Usually Katya will bop Erik in the head with a flower after one of those near buckings to try and knock some sense back in. Profession: Trainer Talents: Erik has read up extensively on the history and topography of Kanto, as the only way his parents would let him come over here was if he passed a rigorous test of knowledge on the area. Also his dad taught him how to beat the slot machines, because screw other casinos. Inventory: - $662 on a debit card, $30 in cash on him. - 5 Pokeballs - 3 Potions - 6 Pecha Berries (He learned his lesson early with Katya.) - One map of Kanto - One sleeping bag - Two rotations of clothes that double as his pillow - Personal hygiene kit (Yes he actually does have some form of it.) Starter Pokemon: A Level 5 Roselia named Katya. She has a Gentle nature and her ability is Poison Point. Her starting moves are Absorb and Growth. Biography: Erik was born and raised in Veilstone as the youngest of three children born to Kerry, a schoolteacher and Tim, who managed the Game Corner in town. They raised Heather, Gabrielle and Erik to be good upstanding kids and all three took to Pokemon fairly early in their lives, getting plenty of time in with the family Bronzor, who helped Tim with repairs to the slot machines, and Tigger, the Arcanine who kept watch over the younger kids while they played. Each of the three children took the Sinnoh challenge and while Erik was a little slower than his sisters in getting ready, Heather gave him a head start by gifting one of the offspring of her best Pokemon, a young Shinx. As Erik was getting ready to train up little Ray to start heading out along the same journey of his siblings, the Galactic takeover of Veilstone happened, and he was caught in the crossfire. While walking with Ray on the North side of town, Erik was acosted by three Galactic grunts who knocked him out and abducted his newly acquired Shinx. He tried to stop them, but one of the grunts caught him flush and knocked the 12 year old out cold. When he woke up, all he found was his broken Pokeball. When Galactic was driven out of the city, he awaited word on whether or not Ray was among the returnees, but there was no sign of the Shinx. Losing Ray put Erik into such a horrific funk. He didn't want to do anything around the house, and he certainly didn't want another Pokemon. In his mind, Ray was his only Pokemon, and Erik await word on his return. But it never came. As Erik hollowly progressed through school, unwilling to leave the house and shutting himself off emotionally by cursing out passerby and yelling at his family. On his 18th birthday, Tim and Kerry told their youngest child they'd had enough. They had plans for a cruise around the Sevii Islands next year to celebrate being done with parenting and Erik wasn't going to mess that up. So they told him since he didn't want to challenge Sinnoh's gym group, he would be sent to challenge Kanto's gym leaders instead. The change of scenery would do him good. Erik protested, but Tim shoved an egg that had been left behind at the Game Corner into his hands. He had 8 months to get ready before they departed Canalave. The egg was paid little mind by Erik, only really interacting with it when his parents were around or when he had to move it out of the way, but with six months to go it finally received enough warmth to hatch with Kerry and Tim huddling over Erik to watch as the little Roselia bloomed out of the egg. When he first laid eyes on the Thorn Pokemon, Erik felt his defences weaken, then fade away as the foot-high Grass/Poison type looked up with those black-lashed eyes and almost asked "Rose?" Erik vowed not to let the same fate that happened to Ray happen to the Roselia, and the soon to be dubbed Katya has been by his side ever since. With this new purpose in his life, Erik felt maybe he was better now, stronger now. He would be able to handle the journey this time. For Katya. The two studied up on the MacKinnon's chosen destination for their son in preparation for this first journey together. Notes/Other: In the brief amount of time he's been legal to drink, he's determined his favorite beer is Kurt's from Johto. It's a solid microbrew made from yellow apricorn extracts.
