Aery bit her lip to keep from crying when Celaena looked at her with the mask on, looking for all the world like a goddess of revenge. She would have loved nothing more than to put her own mask on and join Celaena, but of course, her mask and her spidersilk had been taken from her. And... She hurt too much to ever be able to run across rooftops like she was used to doing. Seeing Celaena walk out the door, her wounds fully healed, Aery sighed and pulled herself upright on her broken legs. She was so used to the pain now that it didn't really bother her that much, until she actually tried to take a step, and then it burned like fire. She paused at the door, trying to read Celaena's and Allen's lips, and trying to catch her breath with lungs that felt like they were burning. Fae? Was that the word she kept seeing? Fae? Celaena was a fae. Now that made sense. Now the name FireHeart made sense. "C-celaena?" She coughed, doubled over, gasping. "C-celaena, c-can we f-f-find S-silly and Ame n-now? T-the b-boy took them w-when we came t-to r-rescue you, a-and he's g-g-going to.. going to...." She couldn't make the word come out. "What they d-did to us, only... F-for fun. N-not for inf-formation." She choked on the sob that was building in her throat. "I-I c-c-can't do this. I c-can't. T-they t-t-took Silly a-and Ame and they're t-t-torturing them and I c-can't protect them a-and it's.. it's all m-my fault!" Her legs gave out and she fell, against the stone pillar. Shaking visibly both from cold and from pain, drawing her knees up to her chest so that she could hide her face and cry. The darkness filled her mind but didn't sweep her away, just filled it with thoughts and emotions and memories that she could never sort out. She could almost hear the girls screaming in her head, could just see... Ame's scars. Hadn't been from harmless accidents like she'd said. no, no no no. No. Ame, oh my god, no. No. I can't. I can't...
