Aery heard Ansel's voice, deafening (haha, bad joke, right?) in her mind. A flash of light took out the guards and with them the immobilizing pain. Aery groaned, stumbled to her feet, drawing a dagger. She saw Rowan trying to get up, grumbled, and went over there. "No, Rowan, you stay here. You're not going to get back into this fight, not when you're concussed and bruised and burned as bad as you are." But she still tucked herself under his arm to support some of his weight and get him to his feet. "If you get yourself killed, this crazy mage-lady in my head is never going to forgive me." she muttered. Ame, shocked at seeing the guards go up in fire, and furious that anyone would dare hurt Aery again, sprinted out onto the battlefield, looking around. She couldn't see any mage, but surely there had to be one nearby to kill the guards. Still, no sense not helping. She raised her hands instinctively to channel the magic more than her eyes could, and was rewarded by seeing a faint dark purple glow surround one of the soldiers who wasn't burning. He fell, writhing in agony, though besides that tiny purple glow there was nothing else that could have been hurting him.
